Services — Restoration

Stained glass restoration in America is an ever-changing field, with nearly as many approaches as there are practitioners. Although a variety of old techniques are still practiced, our shop insists on following the most current, respected and proven procedures, which are internationally accepted by the global conservation community.

It is our goal in restoration to treat every window as a work of art and as a changing part of the historic fabric of the architecture. While not alive, a window does, in fact, have a life span. For most of the windows we see in mid-Missouri, that life span is 75 to 125 years. All necessary care and maintenance should be provided for the windows during those years, but when they begin to seriously deteriorate, repairs performed in place should be considered temporary measures intended to preserve the integrity of the windows until they can be removed, brought to the studio and completely rebuilt.
